In 2008,Gates said he would give all his money to help those in need.Since then,he has spent most of his time with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.It’s the world’s biggest charity foundation(慈善基金会) under him and his wife.
But Gates was not born to help the poor.He didn’t reply the letters asking for help.Nut in 1993,after a trip to Africa,he understood how much others needed his help.Then he changed his lifestyle.“We knew that we were just holders of the money.Our money would go back to society,” said Gates.
His idea is shared with his best friend,Warren Buffett,the richest man in the world in 2008.“Money is just like ‘claim checks’ (提货单) on society that I should give back,” said Buffett.
Buffett,79years old now,says he still loves Coca-Cola and burgers,wears old clothes and lives in the same house he bought 50 years ago.However,Buffett has decided to give 85 percent of his money to Gates’ charity programs.
