In the East Pacific, Peru was hit with 11 feet(about 3 m) of rainfall in areas where 6 inches(about 15 cm) was normal. It is the heaviest rainfall ever recorded. That year's El Nino caused $10 billion in damages around the world. And it caused 1,300-2,000 deaths.
